One work trip down to Washington DC back in 2018, I was staying at my best friend’s place for a few days while I went to meetings or networking events in DC. I ended up joking about how fabulous it would be to offer yacht and cannabis parties. About 6 months later, I attended a webinar offered by the Association of Bridal Consultants. Wendie Bass in Colorado instructed us how to incorporate cannabis at weddings for our future clients. Over the course of the beginning of 2019, coincidentally I had a few prospects who were looking to plan yacht parties for their cannabis business conferences.
This sparked my interest in networking with people in the cannabis industry because it seemed there was a common trend, cannabis people like yacht parties.
One month later, I was hired to help plan a public networking event focused on cannabis businesses in the NJ area.
During this short gig, I was pregnant and 2 months away from my due date. Since I wanted to focus on my pregnancy, have everything prepared for my current clients before she arrived, and because NJ wasn’t yet recreationally legal, I tabled the idea for it to collect some mental dust.
Fast forward one year and a half to November 6, 2020, 3 days after the election. New Jersey voters approved a constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana. It hit me. It took me 3 days to actually believe this was really happening, and that I can take that idea off the table, dust it off, and LAUNCH.
We’re mentored by the experienced Wendie Bass, who gave the presentation that sparked the interest back in April 2019.
